How does the laser treat spider veins?
The laser's specific wavelength is attracted to hemoglobin which is the component of blood that gives it the red color. When the laser is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the spider vein, the vein collapses as the hemoglobin is destroyed. Often only one treatment is necessary however with deeper veins, there may be a need for additional treatments.
Does laser vein treatment hurt?
There may be a slight discomfort equivalent to a snap of a rubber band on your skin when the laser is used to treat spider veins. This quickly dissipates. Certain areas of the body may be more sensitive however the discomfort is minimal.
